Colorado marijuana shops reach nearly $600 million in sales for the first half of 2016

Recreational and medicinal marijuana sales have exceeded over half a billion in sales for the first half of 2016. At the current rate, marijuana sales are on pace to reach $1.35 billion at the year end setting a new record. This would result in nearly a 35% increase in sales over the prior year of $996 million.  The growth rate on this young and underdeveloped industry is impressive, and Colorado has greatly benefited collecting more than $88 million in tax revenue .
